FUN NIGHT Monday 22nd March 2010
  PRIZEGIVING Monday 29th March 2010 at 5:30pm

We meet every Monday night, events commencing at 5:30pm sharp.  Please arrive at 5:15pm for announcements and allocation of duties.  If rained out, the program is carried over to the following week.  If you are unsure of cancellation please phone the club number after 4:45pm where a recorded message will advise if cancelled.  It will be a normal club night on public holidays.

POINT BOARDS
We are again using the boards for recording this year.  Would one parent from each age group please take this in hand and be a chaperone for that age group.  This would help when moving the group from one event to the next.  This parent would need to ensure that the children are all seated and waiting patiently for their event to start.  Please ask a committee member for assistance if any children are giving you trouble.  We expect children to be on their best behaviour at all times and will not hesitate to deduct points from any children causing trouble.

Would the parent for the age group please mark the board clearly each week.  We need to know whether the child is present and in full uniform.  You need to just tick this column.  When recording placings for the sprint track, please ensure that you stand to the side of the track adjacent to the finish line, so that you can see who crosses over 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th placings.

Please note:  The chest is the reference point not the head or foot.

There will be heats and a final in the 30m, 60m, and 100m if there is more than 8 children in the age group.  All other running races there will be only heats run as finals, and the board should show two 1st and two 2nd, and two 3rd's.  If the boards are not marked clearly a committee member will make a decision.

If you require any help in filling in the board, please ask one of the committee members for assistance.

Points are calculated as follows:   Attendance and in full uniform - 1 point
                                                      1st  -  5 points
                                                      2nd  -  3 points
                                                      3rd  -  1 points

It is important that all runners stay in their lanes upon finishing so that places can be recorded.

DO'S AND DON'TS
Parents/Caregivers of children MUST not stand behind the sprint track finish line (except for the preschoolers races) otherwise children tend to slow down well before the finish line.  Please do not stand on the finishing line of the track.

Please look both ways before crossing the outside track, as a race may be in progress.  Please control preschoolers in this situation also.

We welcome and encourage parent/caregiver assistance on club nights.  This may be a simple task of raking the long jump pit or recording placings.  By everybody taking a turn you may only be required once or twice in the season, also it will make things run more smoothly and help to get through the events more quickly.

COACHING
Coaching is held on a Wednesday evening at 5:30pm.  Children are not required to wear their uniform.  Contact Rob Davis ph 834-4596 for more information.
